Following Donald Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election, Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, continued to rise, with its price breaking through the $80,000 mark (approximately NT$2.58 million) yesterday, setting a new all-time high.

According to AFP, Bitcoin broke through $80,000 for the first time shortly after noon yesterday (8 pm Taiwan time on the 10th).
Bitcoin broke through $75,000 on the 6th of this month, surpassing the previous high of $73,797.98 set in March of this year.
Donald Trump’s election victory has spurred a surge in cryptocurrency prices, and given the close ties between many of Trump’s major donors and the cryptocurrency industry, it is almost certain that cryptocurrencies will flourish.
During his first term, Trump called cryptocurrencies a “scam,” but his stance later changed dramatically. He not only launched his own crypto products but also vowed to make the United States the global capital of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
